William Hall, son of Gilbert, probably of Kent County, England, settled at Guilford in 1639, signed the Rev. Henry Whitfield covenant; married Esther _____ and died 3.8.1669. His son,
John Hall, born in 1648, married in 1669, Elizabeth Smith, daughter of George. Their second child:
Mary Hall, (1672-1755) married in 1693, Daniel Bishop, born 1663, as his second wife. Thier daughter:
Rachel Bishop born 1704 married in 1725 Highland Hall (see record of John Hall (1584-1673).

HOADLEY

The Hoadley family originated in the south of England.
William Hoadley, the ancestor of by far the greater part of those who bear the name in this country, was born in England about 1630, appeared in Saybrook in 1663, in Branford in 1666 where he was a freeman in 1669, deputy for Branford for nine sessions of the Assembly between 1678 and 1685.

In order to trace the family name as far back in history as it is possible to go, we shall present evidence to show that Hosmers probably came from the Duchy of Sleswich (North Germany) south of Denmark about the year 547 A. D. and settled along the east coast of England also that the family name occurs frequently in English records long before the time of William the Conqueror.
