John Hall (1584-1673) born Kent, England died in Middletown Conn. married Esther .. came to Boston about 1633, settled at Cambridge soon afterward removed to Roxbury, made freeman at Boston 1635; removed to Hartford 1639; 1650 removed to Middletown; appointed Customs Inspector by General Court at Hartford 1659.

Hilland Hall (4) (Thomas 3, Samuel 2, John 1) married in 1725 Rachel Bishop, daughter of Daniel and Mary Hall daughter of WIlliam Hall*, member of Rev. Henry Whitfield's company. Mary Hall, mother of Rachel Bishop, was a daughter of John Hall, son of William and Elizabeth Smith, she being the daughter of George and Sarah Smith of New Haven. Rachel Bishop wife of Hillard Hall, being grand daughter orf William Hall their descendants have two immigrant ancestors of the name of Hall viz. John Hall of Middletown, who came to Roxbury in 1633 and William Hall who came to Roxbury in 1633 and William Hall who came to Guilford in 1639.

HALL*

William Hall, son of Gilbert, probably of Kent County, England, settled at Guilford in 1639, signed the Rev. Henry Whitfield covenant; married Esther _____ and died 3.8.1669. His son,

John Hall, born in 1648, married in 1669, Elizabeth Smith, daughter of George. Their second child:

Mary Hall, (1672-1755) married in 1693, Daniel Bishop, born 1663, as his second wife. Thier daughter:

Rachel Bishop born 1704 married in 1725 Highland Hall (see record of John Hall (1584-1673).

HOADLEY

(The Hoadley Genealogy by Francis B. Trowbridge, New Haven, Conn. 1894).

The Hoadley family originated in the south of England.

William Hoadley, the ancestor of by far the greater part of those who bear the name in this country, was born in England about 1630, appeared in Saybrook in 1663, in Branford in 1666 where he was a freeman in 1669, deputy for Branford for nine sessions of the Assembly between 1678 and 1685.

HOSMER
Hosmer Genealogy by George L. Hosmer, 1928).

In order to trace the family name as far back in history as it is possible to go, we shall present evidence to show that Hosmers probably came from the Duchy of Sleswich (North Germany) south of Denmark about the year 547 A. D. and settled along the east coast of England also that the family name occurs frequently in English records long before the time of William the Conqueror.

James Hosmer (b....died 1605) Ticehurst, Sussex, England, married Anges....(died 1614); their son:

Stephen Hosmer (baptized December 26, 1570,) married January 25, 1601/2 Doroty Selden (born about 1582) and settled neawr Hawkhurst, England; their son:

Thomas Hosmer (baptized February 2 1602/3) died April 12, 1687. (see Hosmer family by James B. Hosmer). Settled in Newton, now Cambridge, Mass. as early as 1632 and was admitted freeman in in 1635. Removed to Hartford, Comm., in June 1636; was one of the original settlers of Hartford and was in the first record of Town Proprietorers of land - January 14, 1639, there was set for him 60 acres. His first wife, Frances ------- died Febrary 1675, aged 73. His daughter:

Hannah Hosmer, b...died 1674, married March ------- 1656,

HUBBARD
(From "Hubbard History" by Edward W. Day, 1895). An ancient family with several coats of arms, usually with swans and eagles all having the motto:

George Hubbard, born in England, probably in the southeastern section. Tradtion says he came first to Watertown Mass., about 1633. His wife was Mary Bishop who was born about 1610 and who died at Guilford 9.14.1675. She was the daughter of John (ca 1590-1661) and Anne Bishop. He was admitted to Church membership 10.6.1650; deputy magistrate 165o to 1666; member of Assembly in 1667.

JORDAN*
(By Hon. Ralph D. Smyth in New England Historical and Genealogical Register Vol. 62).
John Jordan, of Kent England, was among the first planters at Guilford and signed the Whitfield covenant June 1, 1639. his name appears as one of the trustees in the Deed of Uncas to the settlers of Guilford, December 17, 1641, and again with Mr. Desborrow's in the Deed of Wequash to Mr. Whitfield, Sept. 20 1641. He married Anne Bishop in October, 1639 at Menunkatuck and died in 1650. His widow married Thomas Clarke of Milford in 1652. He died in 1668. She removed to Killingworth Conn. and died in 1672.
