DUDLEY*
William Dudley, b. at Richmond, formerly Skeen, in Surrey, England; came to Guilford, Conn., from the town of Guilford, some thirty miles south west from London, in the county of Surrey. He was married to Jane Lutman by Rev. Henry Whitfield, Rector at Ockley in Surrey, England, Aug. 24, 1636. They came with him and settled at Guilford in 1639. He was a Representative to the General Court for Guilford and held other offices.

John Evarts, the founder of the family of that name in New England, was made a freeman at Concord Mass., March 1637/8. He was a resident there for some years. He took the freeman's oath at Guilford, Conn., February5. 1651/2. He married (1) Elizabeth Bradley and (2) 5.27.1633, Elizabeth Bradley, widow of first wife's brother and widow of John Parmelee.
